Information and Precautions
We know these are challenging times for you and your loved ones. Like you, our utmost concern is for the health and well-being of each of our patients and to ensure our staff is healthy and able to continue to care for patients. With that being said, we continue to take all necessary cautionary measures and are strictly adhering to and implementing all CDC recommendations and guidelines. We continue to also work with local and state agencies as we fight Covid19. During this time we also recognize how important it is to keep the lines of communication open to give you peace of mind while we continue to meet the care needs of your loved ones while at our facility. As such, the facility will be providing updates of new developments as they take place on this page to keep you updated.

As of today, the facility has a cumulative of 48 residents and 19 staff members tested positive. We will continue to work closely with Public Health and all governing agencies to ensure the safety of our residents and staff. Their safety and well-being remain our utmost priority. We are encouraging resident/patient families to limit visiting at this time and to take a COVID-19 test upon entry.

As of today, the facility had 35 residents and 15 staff members tested positive. We will continue to work closely with Public Health and all governing agencies to ensure the safety of our residents and staff. Their safety and well-being remain our utmost priority. As of today, the facility had 30 residents and 11 staff members tested positive. We had one newly admitted resident from the hospital convert to COVID positive–although there were two negative tests prior to admission. The resident was in the observation unit and is now back at the hospital. We are continuing to consult with Public Health on a daily basis and they continue to provide guidance. Here at Seal Beach Health & Rehabilitation, we continue to conduct weekly facility wide testing of our residents and staff in an effort to stop and slow the spread of Covid19. In addition to facility wide testing, we continue to implement all the necessary infection control precautions. The facility remains on a lockdown. Each staff member that is working is continuously having their temperatures taken prior to and at the conclusion of their shift. Those that are not feeling well are asked to stay at home. Those that have tested positive are under quarantine. The facility has cohorted the residents into different zones with a dedicated staff for the covid+ residents. The staff are provided with the necessary PPEs. In addition, the facility is in daily contact with Public Health and California Department of Health to devise ways to keep both the residents and staff safe. Our focus and priority remains the well-being of our residents and staff. Based on the recent facility wide testing, only 1 additional resident tested positive and 22 additional employees tested positive. We continue to take all the necessary steps to ensure the needs of both our residents and employees alike.

Seal Beach Health and Rehab currently has 2 residents who are positive for Covid-19. Neither resident is currently in the facility.
We have one employee who has tested positive for Covid-19. The employee is self-quarantined at home.
Know that we continue to monitor all staff members before and after each shift for signs and symptoms of Covid-19, including taking each person’s temperature. We are working closely with Public Health and are currently testing all residents and staff in the facility. The first batch has already been sent to Public Health.

Our utmost concern is for the health and well-being of each of our patients and to ensure our staff is healthy and able to continue to care for patients. We continue to take cautionary measures and follow CDC guidelines. We are also receiving information from state and local officials. In accordance with those recommendations, only staff, essential vendors, and compassionate hospice care visits are permitted. The measures we are currently taking at this time unless CDC or state and local officials instruct otherwise:
- Protection with our workforce includes:
- Screening employees, residents, and compassionate hospice care visitors for symptoms of acute respiratory illness (fever, cough, difficulty breathing)
- Sick leave policies are non-punitive and flexible
- Encouraging sick employees to stay home and call in replacement staff
- Training and ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Verifying an inventory of PPE
- Protection with our residents includes:
- Separating residents who show respiratory symptoms away from others
- Postponing field trips and activities outside the facility
- Having activities that allow residents to maintain safe distances from others
- Allowing for in-room dining to reduce the risk of spreading disease
- Increasing cleaning in common areas (therapy rehabilitation area, dining area, activity area, lobby area, etc.)
- Unfortunately, family members are not allowed to do laundry for any patients at this time.
- Food cannot be brought from home and dropped off at the facility. However, GrubHub, UberEats or other professional food delivery services will be accepted.
- Protection of all essential visitors, vendors, and deliveries includes:
- Increasing monitoring or screening of visitors for respiratory symptoms
- Limiting touching and social greeting
- Only allowing essential visitors and vendors to enter the building
- Encouraging family and friends to reach out socially (phone call, video conferencing) to residents to help with feelings of loneliness and isolation during this time.
